Job Title: Mobile Mammography Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mobile Mammography Technologist to join our team at Gundersen Health System. As a key member of our Center for Breast Care department, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality mammographic and radiologic exams to our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-quality mammographic and radiologic exams to aid in medical diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
  • Drive and maintain the mobile mammography truck, ensuring it is in good working condition and meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Work with patients and their families to provide compassionate, individualized care in the provision of breast imaging services.
  • Document exams and communicate with breast radiologists to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis.
  • Flexibility is essential, as work hours, days, and locations may change with referral demand and mobile contracts.
  • Explain procedures to patients as required, and organize daily schedules to ensure efficient department operation.
  • Maintain a radiation-protected environment for patients and staff, and report any erratic machine operation or potential safety issues to the Medical Physicist or Biomedical Engineers.
  • Obtain, review, and integrate pertinent patient history, physical exam results, and supportive clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
  • Track and record abnormal mammogram patients for call-back studies, follow-up diagnostic results, and biopsies.
  • Perform and evaluate quality control procedures and images on mammography equipment, meeting ACR and MQSA requirements.
  • Provide high-quality service to customers in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality with others regarding patient and organizational information.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education as required by the department.
  • Assume responsibility for providing a quality-learning environment for patients, their families, students, and co-workers.
  • Utilize knowledge of regulatory compliance when working with patients and their associated charges.
  • Operate the mobile mammography van, managing truck maintenance, cleaning schedules, and snow removal at truck garage and mobile sites for safe patient movement.
  • Manage truck mileage and maintenance logs as needed.
  • Perform check-in and registration in Epic.
  • Drive and operate large commercial trucks and/or vehicles regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, performing safety inspections, maintaining vehicles in good repair, and completing applicable driving and maintenance logs.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Licensed Radiographer with the State of Wisconsin (LICRAD-WI).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist-Radiography (ARRT).
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist-Radiology & Mammography (ARRT-M) within nine months of hire date.
  • Radiologic Technologist Permit to Practice - Iowa (RADTECH-IA).
  • Federal Medical Card.
  • Valid Driver's License (DL).
  • In-House Driver's Road Test Certificate within 90 days of hire.
  • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands-on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
