Firefighter Job Description

The City of Peoria is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our Fire Department as Firefighters. As a Firefighter, you will play a critical role in protecting the lives and property of our citizens.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide fire suppression, rescue, and medical assistance.
  • Operate firefighting equipment and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Participate in fire prevention and education programs to reduce the risk of fires in our community.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Perform physical tasks such as climbing stairs, carrying equipment, and working in confined spaces.
Requirements
  • Age: Minimum of 21 years old and maximum of 34 years old (with certain exceptions).
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Physical Condition: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position and pass the CPAT (Candidate Physical Agility Test).
  • Other: U.S. Citizenship, valid driver's license, and no felony conviction.
