Job Title: Music TherapistReports to: Director of Special Education

Dept./School: Assigned Campus

Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified music therapist to join our team at Wichita Falls Independent School District. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing goals, collecting and analyzing data, and customizing treatment plans for students. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree from an accredited university and certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).

Main Responsibilities:
  • Use therapeutic music interventions in accordance with students' physical or cognitive needs, capabilities, and interests.
  • Assess needs and administer direct music therapy treatments to provide habilitative and rehabilitative services.
  • Perform a thorough evaluation, assessing the needs of the student, and sets measurable objectives.
  • Plan and organize music therapeutic activities in accordance with students' needs, capabilities, and interests.
  • Observe and evaluate students' reactions to various experiences and document therapeutic changes and progress in the IEP.
  • Adjust therapy to achieve maximum results.
  • Report progress to the teacher, ARD committee, student receiving services, and family members or guardians.
  • Provide treatment progress and status documentation in accordance with the IEP goals.
  • Maintain and submit documentation in the format and timelines required by the ARD committee and in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
  • At least one year of therapeutic experience working with school-aged children.
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
