Job Overview

P1 Service, LLC. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Saint Luke's Health System in Kansas City, Missouri.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems, with experience in performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

This is a challenging role that requires excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and test mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, and fire & life safety systems.
  • Perform specified preventive maintenance and testing of equipment.
  • Oversee and work on fire detection systems and fire suppression systems as needed.
  • Must be proficient and have good working knowledge of many different systems, including elevator recall testing, fire and smoke doors, fire dampers, fire pumps, security alarms, etc.
  • Must be proficient and have good working knowledge of fire detection and fire suppression systems and perform scheduled preventive maintenance.
  • Must have knowledge of life safety codes and TJC requirements.
  • Perform prescribed non-destructive tests; collect and report deficiencies as well as document all tests using both computer and hand-written logs.
  • Good communication skills in a highly demanding environment with the owner, or the owner's representative, on the work performed and present status of various system(s).
  • Interpret engineering drawings in reference to layout, location, and operation of the system(s).
  • Be responsive to customers' needs.
  • This position reports directly to the Senior Lead Engineer and is responsible for keeping him or her informed about the project's productivity and profitability and about any personnel, leadership, financial, or legal issues.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established code and safety procedures.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical degree in HVAC, Plant Operation, or Electrical is preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years experience as a Maintenance Engineer. Intermediate level of knowledge on HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, electrical equipment, and fire/life safety code.
  • Must have a CFC Universal certification for safe handling of refrigerants within 90 days of hire. NICET certified plus.
  • Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others' ideas and tries new things.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a motor vehicle record check. Must be able to meet P1 qualifications to operate a vehicle on company business. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid driver's license. Class E is required for Missouri driver's license. Must have access to drive a well-maintained vehicle. Must have up-to-date registration with the local Department of Motor Vehicles. Both the candidate and the vehicle must be currently covered on a personal insurance policy.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
