Electrical Engineer Job Description

The Electrical Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the transfer of new electro-mechanical product designs from R&D to Manufacturing, ensuring seamless day-to-day manufacturing operations.

This position is focused on driving continuous process improvement and cost reduction to enable the business to operate more efficiently while delivering exceptional customer value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Repair Technicians to optimize troubleshooting and repair processes.
  • Recommend design changes to enhance product quality, performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Develop and test prototypes for new product development, ensuring timely and effective results.
  • Analyze and resolve complex electrical problems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including manuals, test procedures, and BOMs.
  • Design and develop PC board layouts, electrical schematics, and complete assemblies.
  • Develop test plans for hardware/software verification and validation.
  • Perform hardware/software verification and validation testing, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Implement process control techniques and procedures for manufacturing, driving efficiency and productivity.
  • Create assembly procedures and work instructions for all phases of assembly, providing training and oversight for successful implementation.
  • Manage the transfer of PC Boards to Contract Manufacturers, resolving any issues that may arise.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in using oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, and processor emulators/debuggers.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and work on concurrent projects.
  • Proactive and constructive approach to suggesting process or product improvements.
  • Ability to think independently while working within product architecture constraints.
  • Productive working style, both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with ESD prevention, IPC-A-610/J-STD workmanship standards, and Quality Management System Standards (ISO 9001 and 13485, and FDA standards knowledge and experience are desirable).
  • Proficiency in using basic electronic test and measurement equipment, including Calipers, Multimeters, Power Supplies, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Travel and extended workdays as required to support Manufacturing Operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted and sit/stand for up to 8 hours uninterrupted.
Academic Requirements:
  • BS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 3-5 years' experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
