About the Job

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Support Specialist to join our team at Sage Oak Charter Schools. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about providing support to students with diverse needs.

Job Summary

The Special Education Support Specialist will assist in providing instruction and support to students in virtual and in-person academic programs. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and possess a strong commitment to supporting students' academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide virtual instructional support and in-person support to individual or small groups of students in various subjects, including mathematics, English language arts, science, history, life skills, and more.
  • Utilize effective methods of instructional support to achieve set goals and objectives, and assist in implementing practices proven to raise student achievement.
  • May assist in preparing lessons and instructional materials for students as directed by administrators.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, as directed.
  • Attend virtual and in-person meetings as required, including summit meetings, regional meetings, and department meetings.
  • Serve as a substitute for online learning opportunities when needed.
  • Assist with tasks related to the duties of the department, as assigned.
  • Services students during normal business hours unless prior approval has been extended by supervisor.
  • Services students in-home and/or in-person, if necessary.
Requirements
  • Earn a minimum of 48 college units or hold a college degree.
  • One (1) year of experience in working with school-age children in an organized setting preferred.
  • State and federal fingerprint clearance (LiveScan) to work with students.
  • Proof of a clear TB test dated within the last 60 days upon employment and thereafter updated every four years.
  • Hold and maintain a valid California Driver's License; proof of automobile insurance; and full-time use of a dependable automobile that is insured pursuant to California regulations.
Working Conditions
  • Office environment, regularly operating a computer and other office equipment.
  • Noise level is generally moderate.
  • Meetings conducted in public and office settings.
  • Indoor and outdoor in varying temperatures.
  • Employee must have available transportation and be able to drive up to 100 miles in a day.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $29,616 - $39,136 based on a 180-day work schedule.
