Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will work closely with healthcare providers to deliver exceptional patient care, ensuring the well-being and safety of our patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Welcome and prepare patients for healthcare visits, including performing vital signs, blood draws, and other clinical procedures.
- Verify patient information and medical history, and complete records by adding examination, treatment, and test results.
- Maintain examination room instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic lab tests on premises.
- Dispose of contaminated supplies and medical equipment properly.
- Provide wound care and treatment as needed.
- Order and authorize medication prescriptions and refills as directed.
- Educate patients on medication and diet information and instructions.
- Perform duties delegated by healthcare providers and deemed proficient to perform under their direct supervision.
- Active National Certification as a Certified Medical Assistant from an accredited testing program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
- One year of experience as a certified medication pass/medication aide.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication with all coworkers, supervisors, jail administration, and patients.
- Excellent verbal and written comprehension.
- Excellent deductive reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to use a computer and use/learn a variety of software, including site-specific computer programs.
- Ability to respect the dignity and confidentiality of inmates.
- Maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc. for this position.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Current TB test (taken within one year).
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures as well as the policies and procedures listed in the Employee Handbook.
- Willing to assist coworkers in job duties and work overtime if required; may act as a resource to other coworkers.
- Maintain confidentiality, dignity, and security of health records and protected health information in compliance with HIPAA requirements.
- Pass a background check and pre-employment drug test (as applicable).
- Obtain and maintain security clearance with the client/facility as a requisite for initial and/or continued employment.
- Undergo security training and orientation on facility safety policies and procedures.
This position requires the ability to remain stationary and move/traverse throughout the facility, including up and down flights of stairs. The ability to convey and discern information in a conversation, frequently communicate with patients, and stay calm in stressful and demanding situations is also required.
This position involves working in a correctional facility, where employees are exposed to some level of risk and/or harm by inmates, including exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Employees are expected to work in accordance with all security rules and regulations to minimize the risk of danger and/or harm to themselves or other employees.
