Position Overview:
The Patient Services Representative serves as the initial contact for patients and clinical personnel. This role encompasses patient check-in, verification of insurance details, collection of co-pays and outstanding balances, along with various other administrative responsibilities. The front office position is crucial in ensuring that the patient experience at WellStreet Urgent Care meets and exceeds expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and provide clear instructions to all visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Evaluate health insurance benefits, confirm insurance eligibility, and communicate pertinent information regarding payment policies and billing/collection procedures.
- Ensure the reception area of WellStreet Urgent Care is well-maintained and organized.
- Carry out clerical duties while adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Identify and collect each patient's financial obligations.
- Support the practice manager and other staff members as needed.
- Provide comprehensive assistance to Physicians and office operations.
- Gather and document patient medical history.
- Understand and uphold standard healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Safeguard and manage all patient and business documents while ensuring confidentiality.
- Execute office procedures, including all general administrative tasks.
- Document all medical interventions in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
- May be required to travel to nearby WellStreet Urgent Care locations to assist staff.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred experience of at least one year in a medical office or emergency room environment.
- Experience in urgent care is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to work from 8 am to 8 pm for three days a week, including rotating weekends and holidays.
- Familiarity with insurance eligibility and co-pay determination is essential. Certification and experience as a medical assistant is a plus, though not required.
