Job Description:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Clinic plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering timely and quality patient care within a clinic setting. Responsibilities include gathering patient information, providing direct patient care, and facilitating communication between patients and the healthcare team. This position may involve collaboration with multiple providers in a team-oriented environment.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Assists in patient care as directed by the Provider or RN.
•Administers treatments, including medications and scheduling follow-up appointments.
•Provides pre/post-encounter care and relevant health information.
•Collaborates with the healthcare team to enhance quality management goals.
•May initiate, monitor, and discontinue IVs based on site requirements and training. - Manages patient flow and collects essential medical information.
•Rooms patients and accurately records vital signs and other necessary data.
•Facilitates communication of medical information and confirms details with patients as needed.
•Prepares patients for examinations, offering emotional support as necessary.
•Assists in timely and accurate specimen collection and processing.
•Supports physicians during procedures, including medication preparation.
•Organizes patient flow to optimize physician efficiency.
•Conducts follow-up calls to patients as directed, including notifying them of test results.
•Maintains accurate and complete documentation in the patient medical record. - Handles patient phone interactions.
•Answers calls in a professional and timely manner.
•May clarify patient symptoms using their own descriptions.
•Schedules appropriate appointments or escalates to RN or provider as needed.
•Documents all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record. - Processes physician orders.
•Performs clinical tasks within the scope of practice as directed by the physician.
•Responds promptly to patient needs and requests.
•Reviews patient charts prior to visits to ensure availability of necessary information.
•Provides instructions to patients as directed by the physician. - Maintains cleanliness and organization of exam rooms.
•Cleans and prepares exam rooms, ensuring proper maintenance and sterilization of instruments.
•Restocks teaching supplies and ensures availability of necessary materials.
•Stocks exam rooms according to established standards and patient needs. - Other duties as assigned.
- Associate's or Vocational degree from a Board of Nursing approved LPN program.
- Two years of experience as a clinic LPN.
- Licensed Practical Nurse MN BON or Licensed Practical Nurse Wisconsin (if applicable).
- Must meet at least ONE of the following requirements:
•Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
•Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross.
•Completion of Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire).
Light Work:
Lifting weight up to 20 lbs. occasionally, up to 10 lbs. frequently.
