The American Federation of Musicians and Employers' Pension Fund is seeking a skilled Collections Assistant to support the Audit and Collections team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring and collecting payments due from participating employers.

About the Role

The Collections Assistant will be responsible for researching and analyzing employer and musician contracts, payment, remittance, and other pension obligations. They will use this analysis to determine the next steps in the collection process and prepare accurate invoices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze employer and musician contracts, payment, remittance, and other pension obligations
  • Analyze spreadsheets of researched information
  • Use analysis to determine the next steps in collection process
  • Prepare accurate invoices
  • Research and monitor employer schedule information and maintain status
  • Monitor employer payment status and collect for overdue accounts through proper verbal and written communication
  • Create and monitor spreadsheet reports for management
  • Provide written and verbal customer service to musicians, employers, and union locals
  • Research and make adjustments to pension information
  • Research and interpret employer contracts and pension information through in-house systems

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other related discipline preferred
  • 1-2 years' experience working in collections, accounting, business administration or other related discipline
  • Excellent Excel and MS Office Suite skills
  • Organized, meticulous, accurate, detailed, and conscientious in follow-up
  • Collections and/or bookkeeping experience preferred and/or dispute resolution experience required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior teamwork and collaboration skills

Pay Range

$40,000 - $50,000 per year (Hybrid)
