Principal Java Software Engineer

Role Overview:
The Senior Java Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of sophisticated software applications. This role requires close interaction with systems engineers, hardware designers, and fellow software developers to ensure the delivery of robust and high-performance software solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and validate Java-based applications and software components tailored for satellite ground systems.
- Engage in system administration tasks.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams and manage CI/CD pipelines.
- Utilize tools such as Jenkins, Python, Groovy, and Gradle.
- Review and modify existing code as necessary.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in object-oriented software design and development using Java within a Linux environment, including proficiency with unit testing tools (e.g., JUnit).
- Familiarity with Git and the Atlassian Tool suite.
- Experience in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of deploying and managing containerized workloads using Rancher, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Experience in deploying services via CI/CD pipelines utilizing technologies such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
- Proficiency with Nexus or similar artifact repositories in air-gapped environments.
