- Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical units is required.
- Engagement in a variety of surgical cases, including care team rounds to facilitate discharge planning.
- Participate in Bedside Shift Reporting to enhance teamwork and communication.
- Collaboration with the orthopedic unit is necessary, as clinicians must be willing to float between the two units.
- Unit capacity includes 32 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 during night shifts.
- Top surgical procedures include: Robotic Hysterectomy, Robotic Prostatectomy, Colon Resection, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy, Open Hysterectomy, Bariatric Surgery, Leg Revascularization, Lower Extremity Amputation, and Wound Management.
- Frequently administered medications: IV antibiotics, Pain Management Medications, Nausea Medications, Heparin, and Lovenox.
- Standard equipment utilized on the unit includes: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA, Bard Mini-Infusers, Pyxis, Ceiling or EVA lift, and Wound Manager Vac.
- Required competencies include: IV Insertion, PICC/Central Line Management, and Vascular Device Access/Care.
- Orientation hours are unpaid but essential for role preparation.
- For positions with guaranteed hours, Boone Health reserves the right to call off staff for up to 36 hours during a contract period.
