Job Summary

MKS Instruments is seeking an experienced Optical Thin Film Production Manager to lead our thin film coatings production team. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for overseeing the production of high-quality thin film coatings for various applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the production team in the manufacturing of thin film coatings using various deposition techniques, such as sputtering, ion beam deposition, and thermal evaporation.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer orders and delivery timelines while optimizing resource utilization.
  • Monitor production metrics, including yield, cycle time, and throughput, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure the consistency and reliability of thin film products.
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to develop and implement new thin film deposition techniques and technologies.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor production staff to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and performance feedback to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Manage projects related to the development, optimization, and scale-up of thin film coatings.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
  • Proven experience in optical thin film production, including knowledge of deposition techniques and optical coating design principles.
  • Experience with FilmStar or thin film design software and thin film deposition equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Proficiency in quality management systems and methodologies, such as SPC and ISO standards.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and manage project timelines effectively.
