About the Role

Sheppard Pratt, a leading provider of mental health services, seeks an experienced Executive Director to lead our Baltimore/Washington campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the campus, working collaboratively with nursing and medical leaders to deliver high-quality, cost-effective behavioral health services.
  • Operate within a matrix organization structure, collaborating with clinical, support, and administrative service leaders to achieve system-wide strategic goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the broader community, serving as the public face of Sheppard Pratt in the region.
Leadership Expectations
  • Support the delivery of world-class patient care services, ensuring the overall quality and delivery of patient care services throughout the campus.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with nursing leadership and the Medical Director/Chief of Staff.
  • Lead the campus management team, defining the philosophy, goals, and objectives of clinical programs and support services.
  • Implement mechanisms to coordinate clinical and support services throughout the continuum of care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure quality assurance, quality management, and utilization review, working collaboratively with nursing leadership and the Medical Director/Chief of Staff.
Administrative and Fiscal Management
  • Lead the development of a financially sound model of care, working collaboratively with campus nursing and medical leaders.
  • Develop and submit budgets for the campus, monitoring financial performance and making adjustments to ensure financial objectives are achieved.
  • Interact with support services to ensure a safe, clean, and secure environment of care for patients, staff, and visitors.
Staff Supervision and Leadership
  • Have administrative oversight of clinical, support service, and administrative staff for the campus.
  • Work with human resources to ensure employees receive prescribed orientation, in-service, and continuing education.
  • Ensure established personnel policies are communicated and followed.
Business Development & Strategic Goals
  • Lead campus leadership meetings, providing expertise, information, and strategic planning content to the executive leadership team.
  • Support business development activities, including enhancement of third-party payer contracts and growth in referral relationships.
Community Relations
  • Serve as a community liaison, working with city, county, and state government officials and agencies to ensure positive relationships and position Sheppard Pratt as the leading resource for mental health.
  • Ensure effective referrer liaison procedures are established and utilized to ensure satisfaction with referral, admission, treatment, and discharge processes.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Mental Health, Health Services, or Business Administration, or active Maryland mental health professional license.
  • Thorough knowledge of health care management theory and practice, outpatient mental health system, and service delivery management.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible related experience, with knowledge of reimbursement, licensing, and credentialing requirements.
  • Leadership ability sufficient to develop and attain short and long-term goals and objectives, formulate and administer budgets, promote services in the community, and lead/direct staff.
