Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Master Tug Captain to join our team at Centerline Logistics Corporation. As a Master Tug Captain, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our tug and barge vessels, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Navigation: Ensure the safe navigation of the vessel, including maneuvering during voyages, arrivals, and departures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Familiarize yourself with and ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations, as well as Company policies and procedures.
- Crew Management: Direct and supervise crew members in the performance of their duties and assigned work projects.
- Maintenance and Repair: Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance requirements for tug and barge, and arrange for maintenance and repair to correct deficiencies.
- Communication: Prepare and submit written reports per company and regulatory agency directives, and effectively communicate with crew members and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Experience: Five (5) years of experience towing barges as Master, coastwise on the US West Coast.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid Coast Guard license, minimum 200 GRT Near Coastal, with a Master of Towing endorsement, and valid STCW endorsements for OICNW, Basic Training, GMDSS, and Vessel Security.
- Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively utilize a computer, and basic math skills.
Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands: Able to climb onto barges and up and down ladders, and must not be afraid of heights.
- Environmental Factors: Able to handle exposure to all weather conditions, including rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, and heavy seas.
