Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at Wheeling Hospital's Retail Pharmacy Medical Park. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the safe and effective use of medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and care for patients in assigned areas of responsibility, guiding providers and patients on best practices and established guidelines for care.
  • Dispense and control both prescription and non-prescription medicine, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
  • Successfully complete annual clinical competency evaluations, demonstrating expertise and commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers, verifying accuracy and determining formulas and ingredients needed.
  • Direct pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Provide information and counseling to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Detect, report, and help minimize or manage adverse drug reactions and medication errors.
  • Assist nursing and other disciplines or departments in admission and discharge planning and patient education related to medication use.
  • Assume responsibility for and make decisions related to the provision of pharmaceutical services, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Engage patients and clients with respect to customer service programs offered by the pharmacy, promoting a positive and supportive environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current license to practice pharmacy in West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, or Ohio, or be license eligible.
  • West Virginia state criminal background check required, and Federal, if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy.
  • Medication Therapy Management (APhA) Certification.
  • Immunization (APhA) Certification.
  • Specialty Pharmacy (CSP) Certification.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 60 days of hire date.
