Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at Mercyhealth. As a key member of our Access and Registration department, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient access to our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Registration and Scheduling: Ensure all scheduled visits are pre-registered and accounts are appropriately certified/authorized in advance of the service date.
  • Referral and Authorization Management: Initiate, obtain, and document referrals/authorizations/pre-certifications in appropriate systems.
  • Patient Registration and Verification: Register new and returning patients via multiline phone lines and various Mercy systems/applications for visits within the Mercyhealth System.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Answer incoming external/internal telephone calls, determine purpose of calls, and schedule appointments accordingly.
  • Financial Management and Collections: Collect co-pays, deductible, and other out-of-pocket expenses via phone and/or in person, and ensure patients understand their financial obligations.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure compliance with Access and Revenue Cycle related policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to new partners, as well as on an as-needed basis, to ensure subject matter expertise and knowledge sharing.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle and access processes
