Winding Machine Operator Trainee

The Winding Machine Operator Trainee will be responsible for setting up and operating winding machinery to manufacture coils of various dimensions according to specified requirements outlined in winding documentation and order details. The configurations of coil conductors may include strip, round, and rectangular wire in different combinations. This apprenticeship program will encompass technical classroom instruction, welding and brazing training, utilization of HoloLens virtual reality technology, and practical on-the-job training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze winding specification documents.
  • Identify coil numbers, quantities, and revisions, ensuring accurate documentation on coils and labor records.
  • Install and adjust necessary components on the winding machine to comply with size specifications.
  • Load strip, conductor, and insulating materials onto the machine's dereeling mechanisms.
  • Measure materials, adjust machinery to suit materials, and confirm proper alignment.
  • Position and modify the coil form as per specifications.
  • Implement packing as required for each section of the coil.
  • Fold, insulate, and tape-weld pre-cut leads to the coil body.
  • Utilize a crimping tool to secure wire to static shielding.
  • Complete a two-week training program in welding and brazing.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
  • No relocation assistance is provided; candidates must reside within a specified distance from the facility.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of manufacturing experience or military technical training.
  • A minimum of six months of prior experience in coil winding.
Skills:
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, quality specifications, and safety instructions.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical tasks essential to the role.
Proficiency in:
  • Reading Blueprints
  • Applying Shop Math Skills
  • Mechanical Assembly Techniques
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting
Compensation:

$24.80 per hour
