    • Conduct patient profile reviews prior to dispensing
    • Detect and resolve order entry and prescribing problems
  • Drug Preparation and Dispensing
    • Provide properly and accurately labeled medications
    • Demonstrate understanding of drug preparation techniques
    • Execute dispensing of medications in a timely manner, ensuring product safety
  • Documentation
    • Comply with requirements for pharmacy department documentation in all areas
  • Purchasing and Inventory Control
    • Know sources of drug acquisition
    • Anticipate shortages
    • Obtain drugs in select emergency situations
  • Provision of Clinical and Drug Information
    • Identify pertinent questions, process data to formulate solutions
    • Provide general verbal and/or written drug information in accurate and timely manner
    • Understand organization of medical record
    • Select appropriate drug reference for each particular question
    • Evaluate patient-specific drug information request, retrieve pertinent drug information, interpret information, and formulate an appropriate response
  • Teaching, Communication
    • Communicate to other staff members through appropriate written and oral documentation
    • Counsel all patients and/or healthcare providers about their drug therapy to ensure safe medication use necessary to optimize patient outcomes
    • Identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related problems through patient education
  • Program Development
    • Demonstrate ability to prioritize workload to optimize
    • Participate and support medical and pharmaceutical research as required

    • Maintains current drug knowledge and keeps current with trends in pharmacy practice
    • Demonstrates initiative in learning about new disease and drug therapies

    Requirements
    • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from an approved college of Pharmacy
    • Greater than 3 years pharmacy practice experience, or 1 year of retail pharmacy experience
    • Minimum Experience: one year
    • Desired: Registered as a licensed pharmacist or eligible for reciprocity in the State of Connecticut
