Overview:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to ensure the comfort and health of patients. The RN prepares necessary equipment and assists physicians during examinations and treatments. Additionally, the RN administers prescribed medications, performs dressing changes, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs of patients.

The RN plays a vital role as the primary nurse, associate nurse, team member, or team leader in the planning and execution of patient care. This role involves directing and assisting in the implementation of safe aseptic techniques and procedures. The RN also provides leadership and guidance to all support staff within the department.

Our Medical Surgical department maintains an average daily census of 14 patients, addressing a diverse range of medical conditions such as Pneumonia, Cellulitis, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Failure, Renal Failure, Chest Pain, and Liver Failure. We foster a collaborative environment where team members support one another and work together towards a common vision. Nurses within our unit hold each other accountable and are empowered to initiate changes through our active shared governance. We engage in community outreach to educate the local population on preventive healthcare and collaborate with local leaders to provide essential resources.

Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
  • Preferred one year of nursing experience.
  • Current RN License in Texas.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association within six months of hire/transfer.
  • PALS certification from the American Heart Association within eighteen months of hire/transfer.
  • NIHSS certification required within ninety days of hire/transfer.
