Part Time Firefighter Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Part Time Firefighter to join our team at Jekyll Island Georgia. As a Part Time Firefighter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our visitors and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Emergency Response: Respond to and participate in firefighting operations, providing advanced emergency medical care to sick or injured persons.
- Fire Prevention: Inspect buildings for pre-fire plans, fire hazards, and compliance with fire prevention ordinances.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles, equipment, and station, ensuring readiness and completing repairs or replacement of items when necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation: Accurately complete all required reports and documentation within the required timeframes.
- Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve common goals and objectives.
- Education: High school diploma or GED that is accepted by the Georgia Firefighter Standards & Training Council.
- Certifications: Must maintain a current Basic Life Support Certification and Georgia Firefighter Certification.
- Skills: Knowledge of standard emergency management principles, techniques, terminology, equipment, and materials, including extrication and search and rescue. Skill in the operation and maintenance of specialized emergency equipment, including Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), extrication, and other common types of equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to pass and maintain the physical requirements of the Georgia Certified Firefighters Physical Agility Test.
- Indoor and Outdoor Work: Perform indoor and outdoor work in a variety of environments, including extreme temperatures or humid conditions during emergency situations.
- Exposure to Hazards: May be exposed to hazardous materials, chemicals, fire, infectious disease, and burns during emergency situations.
- Physical Demands: Perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment and supplies.
