Job Title: Psychiatric Technician

Arcetyp LLC is a growing small business that provides a broad range of consulting services to US Federal Government, US Military, and Commercial clients. Our team is seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Technician to support the Naval Logistics Command with medical services for active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, and other eligible beneficiaries designated by the Government.

As a Psychiatric Technician, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical services to our clients, including inpatient and outpatient care, diagnostic support, and patient education. Responsibilities:
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient care to patients with mental health conditions, including assessment, treatment, and support.
  • Assist in initial intake assessments and triage interviews, and provide counseling and orientation to patients.
  • Perform ward searches, monitor use of dangerous items, and answer telephone calls and relay pertinent information to providers.
  • Assist in a variety of treatment modalities, including biofeedback, stress management, and group therapy.
  • Coordinate and perform routine training in prevention and management of assaultive behavior, and assist with patient education.
  • Monitor patient safety, perform physical restraint procedures, and manage agitated patients.
  • Understand the rules of confidentiality and instruct personnel in psychiatric patient rights.
  • Perform ongoing risk assessment, assist in maintaining a therapeutic milieu, and transcribe physician's orders.
  • Foster a therapeutic relationship with patients, observe patient progress, and organize and facilitate patient groups and activities.
  • Escort patients safely on and off the unit, and take patients out on field trips.
  • Monitor patient safety, perform physical restraint procedures, and manage agitated patients.
  • Maintain all records required on patients, including data entry and retrieval on CHCS and CIS computer systems.
  • Perform a range of diagnostic support duties, including drawing blood for lab studies, collecting and labeling specimens, taking vital signs, and assisting the doctor in diagnostic examinations.
  • Understand the rules of confidentiality and instruct personnel in psychiatric patient rights.
  • Respond to emergency situations within area of competence and initiate appropriate action and documentation.
  • Monitor and discontinue IV fluids as directed by government supervisor, if certified.
  • Run the outpatient front desk areas, assist patients with questions and information, and offer courteous and attentive assistance.
  • Follow the Command's mission and values of Service, Professionalism, Teamwork, Respect, and Compassion.
  • Schedule patient appointments through the CHCS computer system, coordinate and assist the Primary Care Provider in contacting patients who miss appointments, and ensure that all records are properly maintained, constructed, and secured in a controlled access area.
  • Dispose of the Secondary Convenience Record after maintaining for three years, prepare and pull all outpatient records for scheduled appointments, and perform End of Day processing in accordance with local instructions.
  • Perform psychiatric testing/screening evaluations, if certified and as directed by government supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program, or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians.
  • OR Completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving neuropsychiatric nursing and an Armed Forces or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of the developmentally disabled client.
  • Possess a National Certification as a Psychiatric Technician from the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience as a psychiatric technician within the last 2 years.
  • Provide two letters of recommendation written within the preceding two years from a manager, director, or direct supervisor of a Mental Health Clinic attesting to the HCW's applicable clinical skills.
