We are seeking a highly skilled Polysomnographic Technologist II to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our sleep medicine department, you will be responsible for conducting sleep studies, scoring sleep data, and providing technical support to patients and physicians.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct sleep studies using various equipment and techniques
- Score sleep data to determine sleep stages and identify potential sleep disorders
- Provide technical support to patients and physicians, including educating them on sleep medicine and sleep disorders
- Implement interventions to improve sleep quality and address sleep-related issues
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement sleep-related treatment plans
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) registration issued by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT), or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) certification issued by the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM), or Registered Respiratory Therapist-Sleep Disorders Specialty (RRT-SDS) certification issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program
- Typically requires 2 years of experience in a polysomnographic technician role
- Ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to develop relationships with patients, physicians, and staff
- Basic computer skills
This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, and kneel throughout the workday. The incumbent may be required to drive between sites and may be exposed to road hazards. The position also requires the ability to operate all equipment essential to performing the job.
The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs. over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. The incumbent must also be able to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
