We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist Lead to join our team at HCA Houston Healthcare Tomball. As a key member of our respiratory care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and leading our team of respiratory therapists.
Key Responsibilities- Initiate respiratory orders and communicate with physicians to clarify orders as needed.
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling and ensure accurate results are documented in the electronic medical record.
- Troubleshoot equipment required for blood gas analysis and recognize critical values to intervene appropriately.
- Assemble and check respiratory equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness, including correcting malfunctions and performing safety checks.
- Exchange crash carts and perform lead therapist responsibilities, including making assignments, rebuilding crash carts, and completing blood gas reports.
- Effectively handle situations, including problem-solving, sound decision making, and communication.
- Perform EKGs and provide every aspect of respiratory care to all patients.
- Act as an advanced resource person for all other staff members.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist certification issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner certification issued by the Texas Medical Board.
- Associate Degree from an accredited respiratory program.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as an RRT.
- NICU experience is required.
- Ability to work nights and rotating weekends.
