Position Overview

The Aircraft Wheel and Tire Specialist will oversee the maintenance and repair of aviation wheels and tires. This role also encompasses work on various aircraft components as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, reassemble, clean, and paint aircraft wheels and tires as part of routine maintenance.
  • Handle high-pressure aviation tires while adhering to safety protocols and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Execute tasks in accordance with established company policies, FAA regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure all assigned work is completed in compliance with the repair station manual and relevant maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain familiarity with the repair station manual and current Federal Aviation Regulations to effectively perform job duties.
  • Document all work performed, ensuring thorough inspection and compliance with safety standards.
  • Stay vigilant regarding potential safety hazards and report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisory personnel.
  • Keep the work area organized and clean, ensuring proper tagging and control of removed parts and tools.
  • Utilize all provided tools and materials efficiently and responsibly.
  • Sign off on all completed work, assuming accountability for tasks performed.
  • Non-Certificated technicians must have their work countersigned by a certified technician.
  • Document all on-the-job training received during work activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Relevant experience is required, demonstrated through employment history, training, or certifications.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with proficiency in English.
  • Familiarity with common hand tools and safe work practices.
  • Possession of basic hand tools necessary for maintenance tasks.
  • Compliance with the company's FAA/DOT mandated Drug and Alcohol Program.

Work Environment:

  • Work will primarily occur in a hangar setting, with potential outdoor tasks and up to 25% travel.
  • Exposure to noise and hazards typical of aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Involvement with high-pressure tires and hazardous materials.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 80 pounds, along with the use of ladders or lifts.
  • Manual dexterity, as well as the ability to speak, see, and hear, are essential for effective job performance.
  • Empire Airlines maintains a drug, alcohol, and smoke-free workplace.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting hourly wage range (dependent on experience): $21.00-$32.40.
