Job Title: Inpatient DRG Coding Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inpatient DRG Coding Specialist to join our Health Information Management team at Insight Global.

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding inpatient medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and ensuring compliance with all applicable guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze inpatient medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
  • Ensure accurate DRG assignment and compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure coding accuracy and compliance.
  • Stay updated with changes in coding standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in coding education and training sessions.
  • Assist in resolving coding-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of patient health information.
Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist
  • 2-3 years of relative experience
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
  • Extensive knowledge with ICD-10 (PCS) coding
  • Well-rounded inpatient coding knowledge base
  • RHIT OR CCS OR RHIA Certified
  • CDI Program Experience
  • Detailed understanding of encoder system
  • Experience with Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS)
  • Competency in Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-sufficient & accountable
  • Cerner experience
  • Exposure/experience in working with large hospital systems/companies
