Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Northwell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to ongoing operations, maintenance, and installations that impact the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain building operations mechanical equipment, including generators, ATS switches, Fire Alarm System, HVAC Chillers, Water Supply, Boilers, and medical gas systems.
  • Perform routine rounds of facility equipment, record information in service logs, and make adjustments or restarts as needed.
  • Repair furniture, office equipment, door closers, hinges, faucets, drains, and other related tasks.
  • Layout and install new shelves, soap dishes, paper towel holders, coat strips, crash rails, and wall bumpers.
  • Perform electric repairs, maintenance, and installation, including circuit breaker replacement, power feed repairs, ballast replacement, and outlet and switch replacements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints independently to perform carpentry repairs, maintenance, and installation, including furniture installation, ceiling tile replacement, and wood and metal framing.
  • Perform plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installations, including brazing and soldering skills, toilet stoppages, and replacement of supply and drain piping.
  • Perform painting repairs, maintenance, and installations, including ceramic tile repair and installation, sheet rock taping and spackling, and painting.
  • Perform HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installations, including BMS system adjustments, minor duct installations and repair, grill replacement, thermostat replacement, and filter replacement.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 years of experience in Engineering or Building Maintenance required.
  • Hospital Engineering or Building Maintenance experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tools related to General Maintenance, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Painting, and Mechanical trades required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and/or oral instructions.
