About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Conductor Trainee to join our team at BNSF Railway. As a Conductor Trainee, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight across our vast network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain railcars, locomotives, and other equipment to ensure safe and efficient train movement.
  • Monitor and report on train conditions, including speed, clearance distance, and any potential hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with other crew members and dispatchers to ensure smooth train operations.
  • Perform switching functions, including operating track switches and derails to change train routing.
Working Conditions

As a Conductor Trainee, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, exposed to various weather conditions, loud noises, and physical demands. You will be required to work at heights, climb ladders, and perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

Requirements
  • At least 18 years of age and able to report for duty at the designated work location.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with other crew members and dispatchers.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Training and Development

BNSF Railway offers comprehensive on-the-job and classroom training for up to 19 weeks, which may include travel to our Training Center in Overland Park, KS. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a supportive and inclusive environment.
