The Nurse Manager assumes the responsibility for the human and fiscal resources available in order to provide quality, cost-effective patient-centered care. The Nurse Manager will possess and have the capabilities to perform all the major duties and critical tasks of a Registered Nurse. The Nurse Manager will demonstrate honesty, integrity, respectfulness, discretion, responsibility, and dependability. Supports the mission and vision of the University of Texas at Tyler.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.
- Communicate effectively with medical staff, nursing personnel, and all other disciplines concerning the care and well-being of patients.
- Routinely communicate with and report to the Clinic Manager.
- Provide direction and supervision to both professional and ancillary staff assigned to the Clinic in providing quality care.
- Make staffing recommendations based on fluctuating productivity (census, activity, and patient acuity).
- Ability to delegate tasks appropriate to skills/knowledge of Caregiver and to take corrective action when performance is inappropriate.
- Actively participate in staff development.
- Support and facilitate the team concept between individuals, unit staff, and departments.
- Oversee departmental maintenance, supply status & functionality. Ensure the unit is stocked and well maintained.
- Contact appropriate personnel when problems arise.
- Knowledge and experience in use of supplies and equipment used in a clinic setting.
- Ensure the clinic is a clean and safe environment for patients, family & staff (includes work areas, patient rooms, break room, and lobby area). Ensure hallways are free of clutter.
- Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, and behavioral health needs.
- Provide patient and families with appropriate education.
- Prepare exam room, procedure room, equipment, and assist providers when needed.
- Accountable for the identification and reduction of unsafe practices that could cause harm to patients.
- Support and promote system-wide activities related to adequate hand hygiene and the prevention of healthcare-associated infection.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bilingual a plus.
- EMR experience.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions.
- Graduation from an accredited Registered Nurse program.
- Five (5) years RN experience preferred.
- At least two (2) years RN experience as a charge nurse or supervisor preferred.
- At least one (1) year RN experience in a clinic environment.
- Must possess and maintain a current RN license to practice in Texas.
- Must possess and maintain current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification.
- Specialty certification, such as Ambulatory Care Nurse, preferred at hire and preferred within 12 months of eligibility.
