Typical Daily Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES:
The full-time role spans nine months, necessitating an on-campus presence, with a primary focus on teaching, academic excellence, and student achievement. Key responsibilities include designing and executing effective learning strategies for students enrolled in English courses. This position reports directly to the Division Chair, Arts & Humanities. Faculty members at DDCC are expected to:
  • Uphold the College's mission, vision, and values
  • Deliver assigned courses across various locations to meet program requirements, including day, evening, weekend, and online sessions
  • Ensure each class session includes essential curricular elements, maintains appropriate content and pedagogy, and remains current
  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
  • Facilitate enriching experiences in the learning environment to meet program needs
  • Create course syllabi and communicate relevant information regarding course evaluation and criteria to students
  • Integrate suitable instructional technology to enhance student learning
  • Contribute to the evaluation of courses and programs
  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports, and grades as per institutional policy
  • Engage in professional development to enhance instructional and technical competencies
  • Participate in relevant internal and external meetings
  • Support student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Maintain accessibility for students, faculty, and staff
  • Exhibit a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic community, inclusive of individuals from various social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned that align with the College's mission and initiatives
Desired Attributes

Successful candidates will demonstrate:
Essential Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in English
  • Teaching experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and collegially in a team setting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience teaching at the Community College level
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, such as Moodle, for course content delivery
