Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate RN or LPN to join our team as a Float Nurse. This role requires the ability to commute to various locations, including Verona, Montclair, Clifton, and local offices.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist physicians and staff with daily patient care coordination and access.
  • Act as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians, ensuring seamless communication.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with SMG policy.
  • Collect lab specimens, accurately label them, and prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
  • Ensure proper preparation for patient visits, prepare pertinent information, and effectively communicate problems or concerns to the Office Supervisor/Manager.
  • Verify patient identification prior to providing and/or documenting care.
  • Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
  • Obtain vital signs, administer injections, and demonstrate telephone triage protocols.
  • Schedule appointments, adhere to universal safety precautions, and review and update medication lists in EHR.
  • Enter orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
  • Provide referrals and/or consult orders, check and maintain logs for emergency equipment, and facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
General Job Functions:

  • Endurance (e.g., continuous typing, prolonged standing/bending, walking).
Environmental Risks:
  • Chemicals, chemotherapy, and fumes.
  • Loud noises.
  • Vibration.
  • Extreme temperatures.
  • Confined spaces.
  • Allergens: dust, mold, and/or pollen.
  • Magnetic fields.
  • Radiation.
  • Sharps.
  • Latex.
  • Combative patients/visitors.
Blood-borne Pathogens:
  • Exposure to infectious hazards, blood, body fluids, non-intact skin, or tissue specimens.
  • Contact with patients or patient specimens are possible.
  • Unplanned or unexpected exposure.
Education, Certification, Computer, and Training Requirements:
  • Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • New Jersey State Nursing License and BLS certification required.
  • 0-1 years experience. 2-4 years experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills.
  • Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
  • Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window-based environment preferred.
  • Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
  • Experience with EHR, Practice Management System, and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
Travel:
  • Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
