The Cybersecurity Risk Analyst, Intermediate, leverages expertise and practical experience in conducting cyber risk evaluations to fulfill responsibilities assigned by the Security Control Assessor (SCA) for Department of the Air Force (DAF) Enterprise Authorizing Official (EAO) systems. The successful candidate will engage in a comprehensive array of information assurance tasks and possess a robust understanding of systems, operational environments, system security, and networking.
Work Environment
This role necessitates onsite presence in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identifies system vulnerabilities and assesses residual risk through analysis of technical documentation, stakeholder interviews, and evaluation of the current system condition.
- Assesses the effectiveness of suggested mitigations.
- Contributes to recommendations regarding technical and policy modifications, processes, and methodologies aimed at evaluating and mitigating cybersecurity risks within the SCA's designated authorization boundary.
- Collaborates with fellow Cyber Analysts, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and Security Control Assessors to ensure that all cybersecurity evaluations and risk assessments are completed in accordance with the time and quality standards set by Division leadership and Task Lead.
- Assists programs and projects with security and information assurance requirements gathering based on client and expert communications as well as independent research.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems is required. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree is preferred.
- IAM Level II Certification in accordance with the DoD approved 8140 baseline certifications is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in cyber risk assessment or familiarity with technologies utilized in AFNET or DoD systems is essential.
- Proficiency with eMASS is preferred.
- Familiarity with NIST SP 800-53, AFI, and DODI is necessary.
- Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail, are required.
- Must demonstrate initiative and self-motivation.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies as directed.
- Capability to elicit, identify, and research information assurance requirements and contribute as a member of an assessment review team.
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Professional demeanor must be maintained in all situations.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies, including cloud computing, AI, virtualization, networking, systems engineering, identity management, web technologies, system administration, and system security is preferred.
- This position requires onsite work. Flexibility to work in the office as needed is essential.
- An active DoD security clearance is mandatory.
