Position Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced Benefits Administrator to enhance our People Systems team. This pivotal role involves overseeing and managing a variety of employee benefits programs, such as medical, dental, vision, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Leaves of Absence (LOA), Short-Term Disability (STD), Long-Term Disability (LTD), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other relevant state-specific leave regulations. Additionally, you will be responsible for vendor management, coordinating open enrollment, overseeing 401(k) plans, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with 1095 regulations. You will report directly to the Director of People Systems and will be accountable for the administration of benefits for approximately 900 salaried employees, ensuring adherence to compliance standards and providing optimal support for our workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance and support to employees regarding various benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, EAP, LOA, STD, LTD, and FMLA.
- Administer and manage all facets of FMLA and state-specific leave laws, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Act as the primary liaison for benefit vendors, managing relationships to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Coordinate the annual open enrollment process, including communication, education, and enrollment activities.
- Oversee the administration of the 401(k) plan, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
- Ensure adherence to ACA regulations and manage the preparation and distribution of 1095 forms.
- Process employee lifecycle changes and updates within benefits systems.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the benefits function, updating the Benefits Procedures Manual as necessary.
- Provide backup support for HRIS, benefits, and compensation administration.
- Address routine employee inquiries related to benefits, delivering accurate and timely information.
- Collaborate with the HR team to formulate and implement benefits policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in benefits laws and regulations to maintain compliance across the company's benefits programs.
- Assist in creating and delivering benefits education and communication initiatives for employees.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, EAP, LOA, STD, LTD, FMLA, and state-specific leave laws.
- Strong understanding of 401(k) plan administration and compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships and coordinating open enrollment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively assist and educate employees on benefits matters.
- Proficiency in HRIS and benefits administration systems.
- Ability to stay current with changes in benefits laws and regulations.
