Position Overview


The role involves the secure and efficient operation of industrial vehicles for the transportation and delivery of construction materials to various job sites, storage facilities, or warehouses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drives commercial vehicles on public highways in compliance with applicable traffic laws and company safety protocols.
  • Handles the loading and unloading of materials with precision.
  • Conducts inventory checks and inspects goods to verify quantities and conditions prior to transport.
  • Ensures cargo is secured appropriately for transit.
  • Positions vehicles for loading or unloading, ensuring proper alignment of the vehicle and loading equipment.
  • Transports small machinery such as backhoes, rollers, and other equipment, as well as rail-related materials.
  • Experience with truck/trailer combinations, lowboys, drop-neck, and flat-bed stretch trailers is advantageous.

Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with roll-back, tilt-deck, and dump trucks.

General Responsibilities

  • Assists in the lifting, moving, and loading/unloading of materials as required.
  • Records vehicle issues and communicates with the maintenance team.
  • Utilizes equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telecommunication devices to relay necessary information to supervisors or other drivers.
Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience operating commercial vehicles in a railroad construction or similar setting.
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements

  • Capable of using hands to manage materials, tools, and vehicle controls.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods within a vehicle.
  • Frequent use of repetitive motions.
  • Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Must be able to lift or move heavy materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to loud environments.
