At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As the Sr. Manager for the New Glenn Stage, you will play a critical role in implementing the design, development, test, and production of the first stage heavy lift vehicle mechanical systems scope.

This position will encompass all aspects of program management, including cost, schedule, technical design, and risk management. You will work closely with Blue Origin internal organizations and suppliers to deliver qualified mechanical systems.

You will set technical direction, requiring a wide application of sophisticated engineering principles, theories, and concepts. You will lead and manage the team, with impact on all aspects of launch vehicle mechanical systems engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet and exceed aggressive schedule, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Plan and coordinate resources vital to successfully design, build, test, and certify the New Glenn Stage 1 mechanical systems scope.
  • Lead team in source selection for all mechanical systems procured commodities, supplier selection, and management.
  • Lead the mechanical systems design and development through the entire lifecycle, including production.
  • Identify, supervise, and mitigate risks to technical performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Lead team to develop and document system design to support operations, integration, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Lead and develop the team through hiring, training, and mentoring while providing technical leadership.
  • Meet recurring cost target and lead risk and opportunities to per flight cost requirement.
  • Support commercial and government launch customer requests for information, proposals, and alternate use cases.
  • Establish, maintain, and report on team safety products, fault trees, reliability, component level failure mode assessments, and operational hazards.
  • Develop project summary presentations for customer reviews, internal team meetings, and support to Blue Origin communications team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a B.S. in an aerospace, mechanical, or systems engineering-related field.
  • 8+ years of complex mechanical systems development experience.
  • Highly organized leader with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness, strong business and technical judgment, and bias for action.
  • Successful experience in hiring and developing great people with diverse skills and demonstrated ability to empower and coordinate effective teams and resolve issues.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and ability to travel in support of the program, customer, and supplier.
