Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Mental Health America of South Central Kansas. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in helping individuals in recovery from mental illness or addiction to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer support services to consumers in accordance with their treatment plans and goals.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of service provision, including progress notes and billing information.
  • Assist consumers in developing skills necessary for recovery, such as communication, advocacy, and making informed choices.
  • Model effective coping skills and self-help strategies.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to ensure consistent and high-quality services.

Requirements:

  1. You must be willing to attend the Kansas Certified Peer Mentoring Program Basic Training class and pass the certification exam to receive certification.
  2. Be at least 18 years old and possess basic computer and typing skills.
  3. Self-identify as in recovery with a minimum of one year sobriety.
  4. Have valid Kansas driver's license, current vehicle insurance, and access to a personal vehicle.
