Position: Lathe Machinist Level 3
Status: Full Time
Hours: Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM

General Overview:
Under the guidance of the Lathe Supervisor, the CNC Lathe Machinist - Level 3 will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience operating CNC lathes and/or mills.
  • Experience with Mazak machinery is advantageous.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including basic trigonometry.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with hand tools.
  • Advanced blueprint reading skills, including knowledge of GD&T tolerances.
  • Proficient in programming using G-code.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Skill Level Knowledge:
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Determine the sequence of operations and setup requirements for machining.
  • Knowledge of machining processes and parameters for effective material machining.
  • Understanding of the machining properties of various metals and plastics.
  • Capable of generating and editing CNC programs using standard G-code formats.
Operational Skills:
  • Setup and operation of machines for initial work pieces and verification of settings.
  • Operate both manual and CNC machines for production runs.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Read and interpret job specifications to determine tooling requirements.
  • Construct fixtures as necessary for work piece support.
  • Monitor machine operations and ensure product conformity using standard measuring tools.
  • Modify programs as needed to achieve product specifications.
  • Generate setup documentation as required.
  • Replace cutting tools to maintain product quality.
  • Maintain statistical reporting for production.
  • Retrieve and manage programs in the database.
  • Deburr and clean parts as necessary.
Quality Control Responsibilities:
  • Conduct first article inspections.
  • Set up inspection tools for production runs.
  • Create and maintain statistical quality reports.
  • Design inspection tooling and fixtures as needed.
  • Proficient use of CMM for part qualification.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
