Job Summary:

St. Elizabeth Healthcare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist – RRT/CRT to join our Respiratory Therapy Unit at Ft. Thomas Hospital.

This position involves administering safe and effective respiratory treatments, medical gas therapy, and mechanical ventilator support to restore normal cardio-pulmonary function.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Duties:

• Administers respiratory treatments and medical gas therapy consistent with current standards of practice.

• Maintains equipment and supplies to ensure decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization.

• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

• Follows work-related duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

• Completes required safety, infection control, and age-specific programs.

• Documents and communicates therapy effects and effectiveness to ensure continuity of care.

• Mentors students from clinical affiliates and assesses patients' cardiopulmonary status.

• Recommends alternative therapy options when necessary.

• Explains therapy purposes and benefits to patients, teaching proper techniques for effective therapy.

• Initiates and maintains cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (BLS).

• Identifies personal goals and objectives annually as part of performance appraisal.

• Completes Federal, State, and System annual requirements.

• Serves as team leader per department policy.

• Attends staff meetings and reviews meeting minutes.

Qualifications:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.

• Current mandatory certification in the state to practice Respiratory Therapy.

• Associate degree in applied science or equivalent.

• ACLS certification (if not already certified, will be required post-hire).

Specialized Knowledge:

• Strong understanding of respiratory therapy principles and practices.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

FLSA Status:

Non-Exempt
