Position Overview
As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care, education, and support within a specialized clinic environment. Your role will encompass being a clinical and community resource, educator, and consultant.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in an outpatient specialty clinic.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of diagnoses, medications, and treatment protocols relevant to the specialty.
- Assess the effectiveness of care in collaboration with physicians.
- Serve as the primary contact for patients and their families, which may include 24-hour on-call responsibilities.
- Conduct effective phone triage, utilizing critical thinking and advanced knowledge to address most concerns independently while involving physicians when necessary.
- Prioritize scheduling of office visits and tests based on incoming referrals and patient needs, in consultation with physicians.
- Collaborate with on-service physicians to schedule urgent patient appointments and communicate any schedule changes.
- Assist with in-office procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety before, during, and after the procedure.
- Identify educational needs of patients and families, collaborating with team members and community resources to meet these needs.
- Develop and maintain educational materials that encourage adherence to treatment plans.
- Ensure patient safety by maintaining a secure environment and conducting regular safety rounds.
- Lead the development and implementation of orientation programs for new staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide safe and effective care.
- Define competencies for the specialty and evaluate staff proficiency annually.
- Collaborate with team members to create and implement educational programs and seminars for the community and within the organization.
- Act as a resource for colleagues and hospital staff, fostering continuity of care through effective networking.
- Regularly evaluate your nursing practice against professional standards, guidelines, and regulations, seeking opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Stay informed about the costs of clinical supplies and personnel resource allocation to promote cost-effective outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not involve management responsibilities and will report to a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical nursing experience in the specialty
- Required Certifications: RN - Registered Nurse
- In lieu of the above experience, 1 year of Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) experience may be accepted.
- Certification in the specialty area is preferred.
