Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in the Operating Room at PeaceHealth. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment and assisting the surgical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain the surgical sterile field, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients and surgical teams.
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures, providing technical support and expertise as needed.
  • Inventory and arrange sterile equipment and supplies, ensuring timely availability for surgical procedures.
  • Participate in quality initiatives, such as SCIP and SCOAP, to promote patient safety and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless communication and coordination during procedures.
Requirements
  • Accredited program in Surgical Technology or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist.
  • 1 year of experience as a surgical technologist in a full-service operating room, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of age-specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient's needs.
  • Basic Life Support certification, required upon hire.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist, preferred.
Department / Location Specific Notes

In Oregon, must meet the following requirements:

  • Completion of an educational program for surgical technologists accredited by a national accreditation organization approved by the Oregon Health Authority.
  • Holds and maintains a surgical technologist certification issued by a nationally accredited certifying organization for surgical technologists.
  • Or, completed a US Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and must complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
