Comptroller Job Description

Community Home Trust is seeking a skilled Comptroller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial leadership, with experience in nonprofit finance, affordable housing, and real estate development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy, ensuring alignment with its strategic goals.
  • Oversee organizational budgeting, accounting, and cash management, ensuring accurate reporting and interpretation of financial results.
  • Manage and monitor the organization's cash flow and real estate development capital needs.
  • Supervise the Bookkeeper on day-to-day operations, including month and year-end close, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, invoicing, cash receipts, and disbursements.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key financial partners, including funders, investors, partners, government agencies, consultants, and vendors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least five years of financial leadership experience with a nonprofit, preferably in affordable housing and real estate development.
  • Strong understanding of accounting/GAAP principles, tax requirements for nonprofit organizations, budgeting and forecasting, financial statement preparation and reporting, cash flow management, account reconciliations, accounts payable, banking services, investment oversight, risk management, financial modeling and forecasting, and construction drawing, invoicing submission to banks, and reporting.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassionate service with diverse individuals, strong interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
