Athletic Trainer

The Athletic Trainer provides treatment, first aid, and sports medicine coverage for athletic events according to contract with designated schools. This role is patient-focused, working in accordance with physician orders and affiliate policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess, treat, prevent, and rehabilitate athletic injuries for designated schools, including practice and game coverage per contract.
Provide treatment techniques to facilitate and restore optimal functioning performance specific to certified athletic trainers' patient care area.
Complete daily documentation necessary for billing procedures per affiliate policy and in compliance with regulatory agencies. Record and track daily activities at designated schools.
Certifications and Licensures:
Athletic Trainer Licensure in the State of Michigan. Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training.
Requirements:
Athletic Trainer Licensure in the State of Michigan. Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training. Successful completion of MyMichigan Health and affiliate-specific orientation. Successful completion of new hire competency.
Additional Information:
Interpersonal skills needed for effective verbal and written communication in the English language to interact with people individually and in a group at all levels and to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Ability to work independently, demonstrating problem-solving and organizational skills, time management skills, and initiative. Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is required and must be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. Ability to work where employee may be exposed to communicable diseases. Ability to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodation. Ability to demonstrate and teach selected treatment routines to appropriate professional and non-professional individuals. Prefer one to three years of experience working in a sports medicine clinic or university setting.
Physical Demands:
Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly % or the workday) 10 lbs.
