Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures and provides high-quality care for patients of all ages. This role requires expertise, professionalism, and collaboration in a fast-paced environment. The Specialist produces diagnostic ultrasound images in accordance with department scanning protocols under the general supervision of a Radiologist. Interacting with patients, physicians, and staff in a professional and friendly manner is essential.

Requirements

Education: Satisfactory completion of an accredited Sonography program.

Experience: (2) years of clinical diagnostic ultrasound experience is preferred.

Certification & Licensures: ARDMS Certification in at least (1) specialty required. BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Healthcare Provider (HCP) - AHA approved required.

Additional Certification/Licensure Requirements: Additional RDMS certification in which the department is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in accordance with the accrediting body's guidelines.

Qualifications: Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology for accurate medical diagnosis as associated with ultrasound. Competence in performing all types of general ultrasound procedures and services. Ability to effectively operate all equipment utilized within the scope of a sonographer. Accountability and attention to detail in the performance of duties.

Work Environment: Sedentary to Medium Physical Demand (10 to 50 lbs) Frequent hand washing required. Frequent standing, walking. Occasional sitting, bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, stretching, reaching, climbing. Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, twisting. Frequent repetitive movements. Visual ability to see details at a distance (corrected to 20/40), to see details of objects at a close range (within a few feet of the observer), to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness and to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer, or to judge the distance between an object and the observer. Able to speak clearly so that it is understandable to a listener. Able to identify and understand the speech of another person. Able to focus on a single source of auditory (hearing) information in the presence of other distracting sounds and to detect or tell the difference between sounds that vary over broad ranges of pitch and loudness. Use of equipment including electronic imaging, computers, x-ray development, chemicals, light screens for viewing x-ray images, office and record-keeping equipment. Mental activities necessary include technical problem solving, interpretation, computing, organizational and communication skills.
