About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist who can work effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history assessments, to identify inmate needs and develop treatment recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, including clinical reviews, applying suicide risk assessment protocols, pertinent data/chart reviews, proper documentation, and consultations as needed.
- Meet with mentally ill inmates/wards for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, face-to-face interviews, etc.
- Identify relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders to comprehensively assess, diagnose, and manage presenting symptomatology.
- Effectively apply psychological assessments in the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychological tests.
- Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and develop treatment plans that reflect standard practice.
- Consult on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, and with CDCR institutional healthcare personnel, and other divisions within the department.
- Document all care provided to the inmate, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTT) meetings.
- Monitor inmate progress using Subjective Assessment Plan Evaluation (SOAPE) FORMATTED PROGRESS NOTES.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
Qualifications
- A minimum 1-year previous working experience within the last 36 months (3yrs) as a Psychologist.
- Must be proficient in the English language and able to communicate effectively.
- Ability to build rapport with clients.
- Strong leadership qualities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A valid and current CPR card (American Heart Association).
- Must have the required licenses, permits, and/or certifications in the state of CA.
