Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Pipe Installation Assistant to join our team at Phoenix Industrial. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of construction systems and components.

Key Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting journeyman in planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of construction systems and components
  2. Reading and interpreting measuring tools to perform tasks accurately
  3. Understanding plant north and drawing coordinates
  4. Performing tasks including thread, bevel, and cut pipe
  5. Using hand and power tools to fit and install pipe and tubular products
  6. Assisting in installing valves, couplings, and other fittings
  7. Disassembling and removing damaged or worn pipe
  8. Producing quality work meeting plans, specifications, and industry standards
  9. Interacting with installation crews for material and equipment movement
  10. Performing daily safety checks
  11. Working in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills
  12. Taking direction from higher-skilled workers or foremen
  13. Having basic knowledge of construction processes in heavy industrial construction
  14. Supporting projects with other tasks as directed
  15. Communicating with foremen regarding problems, materials, and hazards
  16. Working different shifts and overtime as required
  17. Working under production schedule pressure
  18. Attaining set standards of accuracy
  19. Performing duties in a safe manner
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A High School Diploma or GED Certification (preferred)
  • Experience working in one or more construction craft roles as a helper or laborer
  • To be at least 18 years of age
Physical Demands

The physical demands of this role include:

  • Working up to 12-hour shifts doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
  • Maintaining physical strength and stamina
  • Using arms, hands, and legs fully
  • Pushing, pulling, and frequently lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, crawling, and climbing to perform job tasks
  • Having stamina to perform tasks repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals
  • Working in uncontrolled environmental conditions
  • Experiencing moderate exposure to unusual elements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment
  • Moving in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas
  • Working at heights and abiding by all safety and fall-protection requirements
  • Evaluating information based on measurable standards
  • Seeing details in objects or drawings and recognizing slight differences in shapes and shadings
  • Visualizing objects in three dimensions from drawings
  • Keeping good balance and working at heights
  • Seeing well and hearing well
  • Coordinating the use of eyes, hands, and feet
