Job Title: SACC Counselor - All Plainfield YMCA Sites

Job Type: Part-time

Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SACC Counselor to join our team at the Plainfield YMCA. As a SACC Counselor, you will be responsible for assisting in the supervision of a group of children at the site-specific location. You will work under the direction of the SACC & Camp Program Director, Senior Program Director, and Site Supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of a varied and challenging program of activities for children (ages 6-13) which includes Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, and Snack Time.
  • Assist the Site Supervisor with the supervision of all children on the site groups of 6-100 children.
  • Build relationships with children and families - Positively greet them every day.
  • Maintain discipline with children during all activities under the guidance of the GSCYMCA Child Abuse Prevention Policy and Code of Conduct.
  • Assist the Site Supervisor with motivating and encouraging all children to participate in program activities.
  • Provide a safe environment for children and follows all required safety procedures in case of emergency.
  • Assist the Site Supervisor in developing an attractive, organized, clean, and stimulating space.
  • Keep Site Supervisor apprised of situations requiring their attention as it relates to children's behavior.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or be a Senior in High School.
  • Must have experience working with children in a structured group setting.
  • Must have the ability to learn and think quickly to solve child-to-child situations.
  • Good communication skills and ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
