Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Veterinarian/Veterinary Technology Instructor to join our team at Navajo Technical College. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in our Veterinary Technology Program, providing clinical support to our Veterinary Teaching Hospital, and contributing to the development of our curriculum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor students in our Veterinary Technology Program, including direct instruction, laboratory and clinical work, and field experiences.
  • Provide clinical support to our Veterinary Teaching Hospital, including patient care, surgery, and laboratory procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of our curriculum, including course design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a comprehensive and effective learning experience for our students.
  • Stay current with industry developments and best practices in veterinary medicine and education.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an AVMA-accredited institution.
  • Current New Mexico Veterinary and Pharmacy licenses in good standing.
  • Current Federal Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Pharmacy license in good standing.
  • Maintain DVM continuing education according to the New Mexico Board of Veterinary Medicine regulations.
  • Current membership in a veterinary-related professional organization, i.e. AVMA.
  • Maintain veterinary liability coverage while practicing, i.e. AVMA-PLIT.
  • Valid and clean state driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies and no history of child abuse and/or neglect.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board Certification in a Veterinary discipline.
  • Three or more years of successful mixed animal veterinary practice experience in animal care, support, and customer service.
  • Two or more years of veterinary technology, veterinary school, or equivalent university teaching experience as an AVMA and state credentialed Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Documented participation in ongoing professional development activities, and/or publication or formal review of professional literature.
  • Experience in research related to the veterinary field.
Working Conditions

This position requires a high level of physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting. The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with multiple demands and tight time constraints. Evening and/or weekend work will be required, and extended hours and irregular shifts may be necessary.
