Job Description

At Virginia Hospital Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As a Registered Nurse in this dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care to individuals of all ages, from infants to geriatric patients, in a variety of emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Conduct thorough assessments, identify patient needs, and prioritize care based on acuity and urgency.
  • Administer medications, perform procedures, and provide education to patients and families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
  • One year of experience in an acute care setting preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Virginia or a Compact State.
  • BLS certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACLS certification.
  • PACU or ED experience.
  • De-escalation training.
Working Conditions

The Emergency Department at Virginia Hospital Center is a fast-paced and dynamic environment. As a Registered Nurse in this setting, you will be exposed to a wide range of patients and situations, requiring strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. You will work in a well-lighted and ventilated office/clinical setting, subject to frequent interruptions and long hours. You may be required to work beyond normal working hours, including overtime and on-call shifts.

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary for exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious processes. You will be involved with patients, family members, co-workers, and visitors under all conditions, including hostile and emotionally upset individuals.
