The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will assist Operations with a focus on the Seals sector, ensuring that the Quality Management System and quality standards of the organization are effectively implemented and sustained at the designated facility, in alignment with corporate quality policies, relevant regulatory requirements, QMS/AS-9100 standards, and customer specifications to guarantee that manufactured products fulfill both internal and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead and/or assist in the creation, execution, and supervision of a robust Quality Management System that adheres to corporate quality policies and procedures, along with applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Oversee document control and the review/approval process of controlled documents.
- Manage change controls and the review of change management processes.
- Conduct investigations and manage CAPA, including thorough root cause analysis.
- Handle complaint management and perform investigations related to complaints.
- Oversee supplier quality management and conduct supplier audits as necessary.
- Implement and manage an internal audit program, performing internal audits as required.
- Facilitate training and development; assess the effectiveness of training for direct reports.
- Implement Quality Risk Management in relevant areas of the QMS.
- Conduct Management Reviews.
- Ensure QMS/AS-9100 certification and maintenance.
When applicable, supervise and guide the performance of direct reports to ensure effective, efficient, and timely inspection, testing, and reporting to support all facets of the Quality function, including receiving inspection, in-process/final inspection/testing, and complaint investigations.
This encompasses the development and execution of effective training programs, daily workload management, and time management, including authorization of overtime.
Lead and/or support the oversight of product realization and commercial manufacturing processes, including product/specification development, technology transfer, validation, process capability assessments, and equipment qualification/validation, as well as materials management associated with job responsibilities, including preparation and/or support for documentation.
Oversee and coordinate the testing, auditing, review, and disposition processes for production batches and incoming raw materials, including the management of deviations and nonconforming products.
Customer Support Responsibilities Include:
- Assist in customer audits, including tracking responses and corrective actions.
- Collaborate in resolving quality issues and customer inquiries by fostering effective interdepartmental communication.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a Technical discipline (Required).
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Technical Discipline, or Quality Assurance (Preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in a regulated manufacturing industry, preferably Aerospace.
- Minimum of 3 years in a Quality role (Quality System development, implementation, and/or execution) within a manufacturing environment (Required).
- At least 1 year of experience supervising hourly/non-exempt Quality inspection/testing staff in a job-shop manufacturing environment (Preferred).
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of ISO/AS requirements and relevant industry best practices is essential.
- Proficient in quality systems and problem-solving tools such as SPC, PFMEA, PPAP, DOE, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings (GD&T, etc.) and possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in conducting Quality System/Process Audits (AS-9100 experience preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and statistical analysis software.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills.
