Job Overview:

APTIM's Sustainability team is seeking a highly skilled Zero Waste Specialist to support our waste minimization efforts for public and private sector clients. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience working on solid waste related issues, including zero waste, waste minimization, sustainable materials management, organic waste diversion, and recycling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform material sorting services/evaluations to assist clients in identifying contamination and waste reduction, recycling, and/or organic diversion opportunities.
  • Provide technical assistance via in-person and virtual support to clients on diversion needs and/or mandates.
  • Conduct in-person waste audits/sorts related to City ordinances and/or state mandates.
  • Support relationships with regulatory entities and the City's hauler.
  • Stay up-to-date on emerging solid waste related regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, environmental policy, environmental studies, climate science, comprehensive planning, or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience on solid waste, recycling, zero waste, circular economy, plastics, and packaging, and waste minimization strategies.
  • Fieldwork experience performing waste evaluations and audits.
  • Effective written/verbal communication, presentation, and public speaking experience.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and travel.
